Shane Farrell has performed live over 5000 times in Europe, Asia, USA & Australia on a variety of tours and theatrical productions. Shane was born in Manchester, England to Irish parents. His mother Mary hails from County Galway and his father Tom comes from County Cavan. Shane grew up in a household steeped in traditional Irish music and he started playing Irish music at 7 years of age. He quickly mastered mandolin, before progressing to banjo and fiddle. He has been performing live concerts since the age of 12 years with a variety of musicians and groups around the world including The Irish Rovers, Charlie & the Bhoys, Lúnasa, The Banshees, The Danny Burns Band, and The Micheal McGoldrick Band. Shane is just coming off of a three-year residency at Raglan Road in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. There he was a member of the house band playing 6 or more nights a week to a packed house. Raglan Road has been voted Best Entertainment Venue In Orlando by USA today in 2015, and Best Live Music Venue by Orlando Magazine in 2015, just to name a few of the many awards and accolades received during Shane’s residency there! Shane has performed frequently on Irish & UK TV, and on Manchester Irish Radio, performing pieces he has composed, as well as traditional tunes passed down from musicians that inspired his music. His inspiration includes the fiddle playing of Mark O’Connor of Seattle, and the banjo of Béla Fleck of New York. He is one of the most sought-after Traditional Musicians in Ireland today, and has been hailed as one of the best Irish Trad musicians of his generation. He plays with a joy and abandon that lifts the spirit – he always has his audiences enthralled, and has a friendly charm and contagious enthusiasm. Shane has also been praised for being an insightful and patient teacher, passing on the Irish Music tradition to students of all ages. Shane has been a representative promoting Irish traditional music and culture in 35 countries on 5 continents. Shane has composed an impressive portfolio of Traditional Tunes and produced music for numerous shows and productions, including Ireland's TG4 Television channel Shane composed traditional ragtime banjo music for the award-winning Netflix TV documentary “Men at Work.” Shane has appeared on various news segments promoting local music and events, including several appearances on WESH 2 in Orlando. Like Shane, all four of his siblings are highly-skilled and versatile musicians, holding both All-Britain and All-Ireland World titles in the various array of instruments they play. Shane's older brother Colin is an accomplished fiddle and whistle player and member of Irish Super-group Lúnasa and American Irish group The Elders. Shane was All Britain and All Ireland World Champion on Fiddle, Banjo & Mandolin on numerous occasions, and has won many awards playing with Ó Carolan CeiliBand at the Fleadh Cheoil na Éireann.
